Teacher Strategies for Classroom Management Based on the *Pesantren* Environment to Enhance Learning Effectiveness at Madrasah Aliyah Fathonul Burhan

Abstract

This study aims to analyze teacher strategies regarding *pesantren*-based classroom management to enhance learning effectiveness at Madrasah Aliyah Fathonul Burhan, Karawang Regency. The study is motivated by the importance of classroom management that is not merely academically oriented but also prioritizes character building and Islamic values—hallmarks of *pesantren* education. A qualitative approach utilizing the case study method was employed. The research subjects consisted of the *madrasah* principal and teachers directly involved in the instructional process. Data collection involved observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis utilized the Miles and Huberman interactive model, comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation. The results indicate that teachers implement classroom management strategies by creating a conducive classroom climate, reinforcing character and discipline rooted in the *pesantren* environment, and utilizing the *pesantren* setting as a learning resource. Teachers act not only as conveyors of subject matter but also as role models in shaping students' character. The religious *pesantren* environment supports effective learning, enabling students to develop not only academically but also in terms of discipline, responsibility, and noble character. Thus, *pesantren*-based classroom management serves as an effective strategy for improving the quality of learning at Madrasah Aliyah Fathonul Burhan.
